When you make your appointment, you will be asked to complete an extensive personal and family history questionnaire. After reviewing your answers to the questionnaire, Dena may request specific medical records prior to your appointment.

At your first appointment, we will discuss your history and any concerns you may have. This will include a discussion of the benefits and limitations to genetic testing, genetic discrimination, possible results and outcomes, and the collection of informed consent.

At the conclusion of your Pre-test Genetic Counseling Session, you will choose which test to pursue and submit a saliva sample.

Once the sample is sent in, we will schedule a Results Disclosure Session during which you will receive your results. Any questions or concerns will be promptly addressed.

Dena will work directly with your doctor in developing the best prevention plan going forward, always incorporating evidence-based medical society recommendations (ie NCCN, ACOG, etc).

The results of your testing may indicate that other individuals in your family would benefit from genetic counseling and testing. Dena will help you identify these at-risk individuals and provide you with a family letter to share with them.

A letter including a written plan will be provided to your healthcare team.

As a member of your healthcare team, Dena will communicate with your doctor regarding your results and medical plan.
